Humanitarian. Socialite. Fashionista. Visual Artist/Painter. Businesswoman. Actress. All these words describe Filipina icon Heart Evangelista who has taken over the hearts of many, especially mine, because of who and what she is. Born as Love Marie Payawal Ongpauco-Escudero, Heart dabbles in many things that any blogger or fanatic of fashion would envy and worship. She was featured in Kevin Kwan’s YouTube video that shines a light on the real “Crazy Rich Asians” which just puts into perspective the kind of fashion forward and fast life she lives. Despite the lavish life she lives, she still makes time to bring awareness to the Filipino community and the roots it has to offer to the world. Her instagram @iamhearte documents all her adventures and thoughts into one personal diary that she shares with the world.
Heart has recently just entered into the world of jewelry with her new Royal Gem Muse collection which represents her message about loving yourself. Her new collection glistens and reflects her taste of timeless style. Heart’s YouTube videos also feature her escapades not only by herself but also with her husband Senator “Chiz” Escudero who is a politician in the Philippines. From Paris with Love to Asian countries that share the culture, we see the diversity through the adventures that she yearns to share. Her love of couture fashion is evident when she handpaints designer handbags to express emotion and self-worth. By hand painting bags, she does what any other artist would do and expresses her emotions through it while at the same time channeling this beauty to make others feel happier. Some of these difficult emotions come from her own personal struggles such as miscarriages and family problems.
Other YouTube videos of hers feature Paris Fashion Week and her commentary about the newly released and unreleased styles. Others include a tour of her closet in her home in the Philippines which boasts hundreds of shoes, each with their own personal story, and even a personal video that calls for non-discirmination for the LGBTQIA community. With her platform, she is able to express her support for the SOGIE (sexual orientation, gender identity and expression) Equality Bill, the newest version of the Anti-Discrimination Bill (ADB). In an Instagram post, Evangelista said that “everyone has the right to live, work and dream”, and that “the SOGIE (Equality Bill) is a step in the right direction to guarantee the protection of those rights, especially for our friends in the LGBTQIA+ community.” Heart Evangelista, though some may say is just another high class Asian Kim Kardashian, exudes class and grace and uses her status to bring to light art and issues that she deems as beautiful.
